Frequently asked questions about Crossroads LifeGroups

What is a LifeGroup?

A LifeGroup is a group of people whom meet on a regular basis with the purpose of growing closer to God and one another. This happens as the people of the group care for each other, pray together, study, worship, and serve together.  LifeGroups are about sharing life together.

Is there a difference between a LifeGroup and a small group?

LifeGroups and small groups have a similar focus-- growing relationally with God and one another.  However, LifeGroups build upon the small group foundation and have a broader ministry focus that reflects the value that we do our best when we live life together.  LifeGroups at Crossroads can range from Sunday School classes to community groups to short-term missions groups to support groups and so on.

Why join a LifeGroup?

At Crossroads we believe that LifeGroups can be a vital part of your personal faith journey. LifeGroups provide the environment where people can connect with one another and grow closer to God as they live out the mission of the church. LifeGroups help a growing church feel personal and provide a place for people to experience support and care when facing the challenges of life.

What types of LifeGroups are there and how do they function?

At Crossroads we have 6 types of LifeGroups:

  • Disciple-making groups are designed for those who desire growth in the personal relationship with God.  This type of LifeGroup will focus on achieving increasing spiritual disciplines through Bible studies.
  • Community groups will usually meet in homes, the workplace, or somewhere in the community (such as a coffee shop) on a weekly basis.  A community group will primarily emphasize building community with Jesus as the center.
  • Service groups meet together on a regular basis with the focus of living out God’s word through service projects in the community, short-term missions, etc.
  • Seeker groups are for those who are seeking to know more about the church and about God.
  • Support groups are designed specifically for helping people through life’s struggles.  Examples of this type of group are grief support groups, alcohol and substance abuse support groups, Alzheimer support groups, parenting support groups, etc.
  • Prayer groups are for those who have a passion for prayer and intercession for our community.
